Fanuc Robotics Former C.E.O. Speaks to Team

Submitted by afinein on Thu, 05/01/2008 - 17:43

Yesterday, Wednesday, April 30, the former CEO of Fanuc Robotics came to talk to the robotics team.

He talked about how robots came to be the way the are today. He pointed out though how big the robots used to be and how big the controls were compared to how small they are today. The controls 20 or 30 years ago used to be as big as a refrigerator, and today, they are as big as a microwave. He also talked about how there has been no reported deaths with Fanuc Robotics. This is mainly due to the safety features installed in the robots and their control system.

Another topic that he talked about was how robots have affected the economy. Before robots were installed in factories, such as a car factory, it might take you a few days to build a car. But with robots, it might take you about a day to build the skeleton. He also told the team that with robots operating in factories, it has made stuff cheaper to buy. This is mainly due to supply and demand. If you can build products faster, it will lower the price of it.
