Team 1418 Performs Well at FRC Championship
The last few days have been very tense! Practice rounds were on Thursday. Qualifying rounds were played all of Friday after the opening speeches and the morning part of Saturday. The rest of Saturday was elimination rounds as well as the awards.
On Friday, several important people to FIRST gave speeches. Some of the people include Dean Kamen (FIRST founder), former president George H. W. Bush, and Sonny Perdue (Georgia's governor.) After the speeches were finished, the competitions started. Vae Victus played 5 competitive games on Friday. They won all but one of those matches. Then, on Saturday morning, the team played 2 more matches. They won one round and lost the other one. After all 7 of their games were finished, they ended up being 5-2. When all of the games were finished, they were in the 18th seed. Unfortunately though, that was not good enough to be guaranteed a place in the elimination rounds. The only way that they could have been able to play in the elimination rounds was if one of the 8 top teams picked them to be in their alliance, but none of them did. There was no longer any chance of getting into the elimination rounds.
After all of the alliances were picked, the championship games started. In between each game, a few awards were handed out. After 6 of the 7 total games were played, the very last match started. It was the toughest of all the matches yet. The Archimedes division was played the Curie division. Archimedes ended up winning.
